Don’t neglect any of these eye problems – safeguard your sight by seeing an eye doctor!
Fluctuating Vision
If you experience frequent changes in your ability to see, it can be a sign of high blood pressure(hypertension) or diabetes affecting your eyes.
Distorted images or blind spots
If you experience distorted vision, such as straight lines appearing wavy or an empty spot in the center of your vision, it could be the signs of age-related macular degeneration. This disease affects the macula, the area of the eye that is used for central vision. Talk to your eye doctor as soon as possible if you experience any signs of macular degeneration.
Loss of peripheral vision
This can be a sign of glaucoma, which occurs when the optic nerve is damaged by intraocular pressure that is too high. See your eye doctor immediately if any blind spots occur in your vision. Regular eye exams are the best way to prevent glaucoma from damaging your eyesight.
Floaters and flashes
Many people occasionally see floaters and flashes in their eyes. Floaters are tiny clumps of gel or cellular debris inside the vitreous, the jelly-like fluid that fills the inside cavity of the eye. Flashes occur when the vitreous gel inside the eye rubs or pulls on the retina, producing the illusion of flashing lights or lightning streaks. Flashes and floaters are usually harmless, but if you suddenly see more floaters than normal, and they are accompanied by bright flashes, it could be a sign of impending retinal detachment. If this occurs, seek care immediately.
