"I always try to involve and guide the patient as much as possible in their health."
Jan Johnson has been practicing medicine for 18 years as a staff nurse and 19 years as a nurse practitioner. “I became a nurse practitioner after 18 years in the coronary care unit. I wanted to be able to take on greater responsibility in providing preventative care for patients.” While assisting in any disease of the heart, Jan also likes to perform procedures such as taking off abnormal moles, abscesses, and stitching wounds. “My philosophy of care is prevention first when possible. If not, diagnosis then prevention of complications. I always try to involve and guide the patient as much as possible in their health. I love my job because I feel that I make an impact in my patients’ lives.” In her spare time Jan likes to garden, sew, and spend time with her family “Being here has allowed me the flexibility to care for patients and be involved with their lives while still being able to be involved with my 5 children and 6 grandchildren.” She also loves to travel and go hiking.
