Katie chose to become a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) because she believes that communication is such an important part of what makes us human. “Effectively communicating with one another greatly improves our quality of life. It allows us to advocate for ourselves, express our ideas, and share information. As an SLP, I think it’s important to recognize that all forms of communication are valid.”

When working with patients, Katie believes it is imperative to build a collaborative, working relationship with them and their families. “When developing an individual plan of care, I always consider the goals that will be most functional for the patient in their everyday life.”

Katie has extensive experience working with children age three to 17 with a variety of speech/language disorders and language-based learning difficulties. She also has experience working with individuals in the areas of autism, articulation, dyslexia, receptive/expressive language, fluency, phonology, social/emotional issues, and English language learners.

In her work at Reliant, Katie enjoys working with a wide range of patients. “I enjoy the flexibility of working with people of all ages and disorders,” she explains. “I also enjoy collaborating with families and other professionals to work toward successful treatment outcomes.”

In her spare time, Katie enjoys cooking, yoga classes, playing cards, trying new coffee shops, thrifting, and spending time with family and friends.
