After starting her medical career in clinical research, Allison soon realized that the most enjoyable part of her job was when she was interacting with patients. “I researched different clinical positions and found that being a nurse practitioner would be the best way to use my skills and help patients,” she explains. “So I made the decision to enter a program to become a Nurse Practitioner.” Allison’s area of expertise is adult and women’s health. “I chose primary care because you get to see patients with a diverse set of issues. I also enjoy the fact that there is a lot of patient education and a strong focus on health promotion and how you can help patients achieve their health goals.” Allison looks at providing care as a partnership with patients. “I am here to help, but ultimately it is up to the patient to determine how far we go. Everyone has to work together in order to achieve the health goals that are set. There are many challenges that patients face each day, but it’s important that they take care of their health so they can continue to enjoy the things in life that are important to them.” When she is not busy with patients, Allison enjoys spending time with family and close friends. A big Boston sports fan, she also likes to be active and enjoy the outdoors whenever she can.
