A member of the Virtual ReadyMED team at Reliant, Jennifer has extensive experience working in Family Medicine and Urgent Care. Jennifer enjoys being a physician assistant (PA) because she wanted a career in healthcare where she could help patients lead healthier lives through teaching, showing compassion, and encouraging collaboration.
Jennifer’s area of expertise is Family Medicine, where she often gets to care for multiple generations of the same family. “Dealing with so many members of the same family give me a better understanding their culture, lifestyle views, everyday habits, and other dynamics that help me improve their overall health,” she explains. “My philosophy of care is to be collaborative whenever possible as I believe patients have a bigger commitment when they have a say in their care and understand the ‘why’ behind my recommendations.”
What Jennifer likes the most about her work as a physician assistant is the ability to see growth and improvement in others on a regular basis. “I am passionate about the ability to teach others and take time to provide evidence-based medicine to patients every day,” she explains. She says her biggest challenge is not having a larger platform to make a greater impact on health care and improving the lives of others, but that she is, “working on that.”
When she is not busy with patients Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family as well as crafting, biking, baking, swimming and learning new things. She also enjoys running and getting a massage for self-care. “It is important to understand that self-care makes the biggest impact on one’s health,” she explains.
