Dr. Karin Underkoffler was inspired to become an optometrist because of her experiences with an eye doctor when she was a child. “I always looked forward to appointments with my family optometrist. He helped me to understand that optometry was about helping people, not just treating them,” she explains. “I learned that optometrists actually improve the quality of life for their patients. I knew then that optometry would be an ideal profession for me.”
Dr. Underkoffler has over 25 years of practice as an optometrist at Reliant Medical Group and has constantly strived to provide the best eye care for her patients. She believes it’s important for everyone to have an ocular health exam to screen for eye diseases such as glaucoma. “I always conduct a thorough examination and screening for potential disease. There are many times my instincts are confirmed and we find something that needs to be addressed. Excellence in patient care is always my first priority.”
In her practice at Reliant Dr. Underkoffler enjoys providing optometry care for entire families. “I enjoy seeing patients of all ages. There are many families where I see the grandparents, children and grandchildren. I aim to provide everyone I see with the best patient care experience and primary care eye exam so they can maintain their visual health.”
Dr. Underkoffler appreciates working with her colleagues at Reliant Medical Group. “We collaborate with other doctors in the practice, and can immediately refer patients who need more advanced care. That gives us the reassurance that the patient always receives the best care.”
In her life outside Reliant Medical Group, Dr. Underkoffler enjoys hiking in the White Mountains with her husband and three children. “The views are nothing less than spectacular, especially on the 4,000 footers. We are fortunate to live in such a beautiful area of the country.”

Excellent care
This patient rated the doctor 1 out of 5 stars.
The staff was great. The doctor was not. She appeared to be annoyed by my presence. Made no eye contact during limited comments. The exam was very short and superficial, No diagnoses or comments were made made. Another eye doctor, outside of reliant, was seen 1 week later. I was diagnosed with "Fourth nerve Palsy". The diagnoses included a complete explanation of the Issue, a course of action and a four week follow up appointment to evaluate any change In vision. Dr. Underkoffler suggested a follow up for a much later date, but gave no reason.I will never see this Dr again and will strongly suggest the same to others.
This patient rated the doctor 1 out of 5 stars.
Dr Underkoffler was not attentive, she was dismissive of mine and my daughter's concerns and questions. I would never return to this office and would recommend others to avoid her entirely.
This patient rated the doctor 5 out of 5 stars.
Th doctor has been my doctor for several years. I would be very sad if she retired or left the practice.
