Overall Patient Rating
4.7 out of 5 stars - 179 total ratingsA graduate of the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, Katherine started her career as a certified nursing assistant (CNA). “I became a nurse practitioner because I wanted to be able to offer my patients more and meet their healthcare needs at a higher level,” she explains. “I really enjoy the aspect of combining patient care with diagnostics.”
Katherine first became interested in Cardiology when her mother was diagnosed with heart disease. “I became fascinated with the subject,” she explains. “I met the nurses and providers that took care of my mother and I knew I wanted to help cardiac patients in the same way they helped her. I just could not picture myself in any other field.”
Katherine likes to approach all of her patients in an individualized, holistic manner. “Patients have different health needs and goals, and their genetics and lifestyle should be evaluated when developing a patient-centered health care plan,” she explains. “Katherine always enjoys the opportunity to educate her patients on their disease. “Keeping them informed and involved in their care leads to better patient-provider relationships as well as better health outcomes from patients who now can make educated and informed decisions. I want my patients to feel in control of their health.”
In her spare time Katherine enjoys cooking, traveling, and staying active. She also has a big interest in physics from her younger days. “I am very interested in quantum physics and the fluid dynamics of the cardiovascular system,” she explains. “I also like to consider myself a pizza connoisseur.”
