“It’s wonderful to be able to come back and join the same organization that cared for me when I was a child.”
A life-long patient of Reliant, Dr. Lindsay Oliver was inspired to become a doctor by her pediatrician, Dr. Brenda McHugh. “Having a great pediatrician when I was young definitely got me interested in medicine,” she explains. “It’s wonderful to be able to come back and join the same organization that cared for me when I was a child. I even get to work alongside the pediatrician who inspired me…”
One of the things that Dr. Oliver enjoys the most about pediatrics is the variety that it offers her. “I love the fact that in one morning I could be seeing a newborn baby and counseling the parents and then later seeing a teenager who is exploring the world and testing their limits and boundaries…it’s always fascinating being a pediatrician.”
Dr. Oliver believes it’s important to establish a strong relationship with both the child and their parents. “I think a big part of pediatrics is to not just focus on the parents or the child but the entire family because the family dynamic is so important. For me, treating the whole child is looking into everything that goes into their well-being which includes their overall environment and the family’s well-being.”
In her practice Dr. Oliver enjoys using the latest technology to keep in touch with her patients. “The ability for my patients to be able to go online and communicate with me through technology like MyChart I think is really great. Plus having a comprehensive electronic medical record like we do at Reliant is really important too. This means that I have all the details about every specialist my patients see and every emergency room visit they have. It helps makes care more concise and more accurate, and it’s more convenient for everyone involved.”
When she is not busy with her patients Dr. Oliver enjoys following the Boston sports teams, especially the Boston Bruins. She also enjoys traveling, and has been to 40 out of 50 states. Dr. Oliver also likes to go camping with friends and family, especially at Lake Dennison in Massachusetts.
Star ratings are based on patient responses to 5 questions about the care they have received from their provider. Responses are measured on a scale of 1-5 and the average score is displayed in an easy to view, 5-star format. Learn more about how we measure our patient experience.
