"...I really enjoy treating families and people of all ages."
One of the reasons Dr. Pamela Sansoucy was inspired to become a physician was the fact that her grandfather became very ill when she was growing up. “As a child, it was hard to understand what was going on and it made me want to know more about medicine,” she explains. “So, I really think that helped point me in the direction of becoming a physician.”
Dr. Sansoucy enjoys the everyday challenge of being a family practice physician. “I thought about going into pediatrics for a time, but I really enjoy treating families and people of all ages,” she explains. “There’s a lot to be said when you can walk in the room, and someone starts talking about their aunt or their grandmother or their sister – and you know who they are and what’s going on with them. You get the complete story on the health of the family and that’s important for a physician.”
In her practice Dr. Sansoucy will often recommend an app for a patient if she feels it is appropriate. “I have good recommendations for breast feeding apps, monitoring weight in your child, and weight loss for adults. There are a lot of diet apps that can be helpful for some people as long as you choose the right one.”
As a primary care doctor, Dr. Sansoucy enjoys the broad spectrum of her practice. Family medicine allows her to carry multiple interests and use procedures for the benefit of patients. She enjoys meeting patients where they are and using in-office procedures (skin biopsy, IUD/Nexplanon placement, joint injections) to build upon the doctor-patient relationship. Maintaining most care in the primary care office allows for a more cost-effective and convenient healthcare journey.
During her free time Dr. Sansoucy enjoys being with her husband and two daughters. She also enjoys hiking, traveling, coaching soccer, and taking the family dog out for a walk.
