An Important Message for our Patients

As COVID-19 is on the rise, we want to remind our patients to continue to be vigilant by staying up-to-date on vaccinations and following isolation/quarantine guidelines if exposed to the virus. The new Omicron subvariants are causing rising rates of infection in our area and spread faster than the original strain of the virus. So it’s important to not let your guard down and take all necessary precautions against COVID-19. The following information can help guide you:

Booster shots
Even though initial COVID-19 vaccination helps to prevent severe illness, studies have shown that the protection provided by the vaccine can decrease over time. Booster shots offer added protection and are a crucial way to protect yourself and your loved ones from severe disease. Those who are over age 50 or have underlying medical conditions particularly need the added protection of a booster. This is why the CDC is urging everyone to stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccinations – including booster shots.

Who Can Get a Booster?

Recommended for 1 Booster
Everyone ages 5 years and older should get 1 booster after completing their COVID-19 vaccine primary series.

Recommended for 2 Boosters
Adults ages 50 years and older
Some people ages 12 years and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised.

Where Can I Get Vaccinated?
At Reliant, we’re only offering COVID-19 vaccination and boosters for patients 11 years old and younger. However, vaccines are also readily available at local pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens. You can find a full list of all vaccination locations at https://vaxfinder.mass.gov/

Isolation/Quarantine
The virus that causes COVID-19 is constantly changing, making it more contagious. Keep in mind that even if you have been vaccinated and had a booster, or recovered from a COVID-19 infection, you may still contract the virus. If you are COVID-19 positive, please be sure to follow these isolation and quarantine guidelines.

Visiting Our Offices
Masks are required in all healthcare settings. All patients and visitors must wear a surgical mask at all times while in our offices and sanitize their hands upon entry.
