A graduate of Northeastern University and Simmons University, Dana started off her career working in clinical research. “While I enjoyed the science of research, I felt most fulfilled when working directly with research participants,” she explains. “So I decided to become an advanced practitioner in order to have more of a direct impact on patient care – which gives me a great sense of joy and fulfillment.”
Dana started her career as a nurse practitioner working in an adult primary care setting that sub-specializes in asthma and allergic disorders. She also has experience practicing in college health as well as occupational health settings. “Prior to becoming an NP, I worked as a registered nurse at an allergy and asthma clinic.”
Dana feels that the field of primary care is a natural fit for her because of the way she likes to practice. “I love getting to know my patients and their families, and the various physical and psychological aspects that can affect their health and well-being,” she explains. “My goal is to provide care in a friendly, approachable, and collaborative manner. I enjoy giving patients the education and empowerment they need to be involved in their own healthcare decisions. By getting to know patients and their goals, we can work together to achieve them.”
In her spare time Dana likes to be active and especially enjoys the outdoors. “Some of my favorite activities include running, yoga, hiking, and reading. I also like taking long walks around Boston where I live – there’s always something new to explore!”
