A graduate of Fitchburg State College, the USAF School of Health Sciences and the University of Texas at Austin, Denise P. Kleister has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1985. She became an advanced practitioner because she wanted to provide healthcare and health education to women of all ages across their lifespan. “I felt a calling to help other women learn about their health and support them in their decision-making,” she explains. “In addition, working in women’s health gives me the opportunity to interact with many young people. If their first experience is a positive one, then they are more likely to seek out health information and proper care in the future.”
Some of Denise’s clinical interests include post-menopausal care, elder care, and gynecological dermatology. Some of the typical procedures she performs are IUD insertions, Nexplanon® insertions, vulvar biopsies, colposcopies, Pap smears, and STD screening, among others. She enjoys the continuity of care she can provide at Reliant and seeing multiple generations of families.
Denise is a strong believer in making her patients part of the care process. “Diagnosis and treatment is just a part of my role here, explaining my findings and reasons for treatment is just as important.” She enjoys getting to know her patients and working closely with the other physicians and staff in OB-Gyn. During her spare time Denise enjoys reading, walking along the Cranberry bogs at the Cape, watching sunsets near the beach and spending time with her family (especially her grandchild).
