Medical Mythbuster: Are Flip Flops Bad for Your Feet?

Many people love flip flops, and they’re great for showing off pedicures. However, for some people, they really can cause problems. This type of footwear does not provide any support, which can lead to ankle, leg and foot pain in people with flat feet. In addition, those with issues such as foot deformities, poor balance or numb feet should never wear flip flops due to their instability and lack of support and protection. Flip flops can also be dangerous in wet environments, as a wet foot can slip right off the top, causing a fall. So use flip flops with caution, and if you experience any pain or discomfort wearing them, be sure to talk to your doctor.
