Medical Mythbuster: Can Houseplants Make You Sick?

Unfortunately the answer is yes. Not only are some houseplants poisonous (such as lilies and philodendron) the moist soil inside planted pots can also be a breeding ground for mold, a common allergen that can cause allergy or hay fever symptoms. So while houseplants offer numerous benefits, they can also be a health hazard. So before buying a new houseplant, always do some research first to see if it could cause problems for you or your pets.

My co-worker is always sick. I wondered if it was because of her green thumb.
